Indonesian Manpower Ministry Issues Decree on Positions for Expatriate Workers
30 Agustus 2019

Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has issued an eagerly awaited decree on those positions that can be held by expatriate employees in various business sectors.

SSEK, led by partner Stephen Igor Warokka, was heavily involved in the process of helping to shape the contents of the decree.

SSEK met with the various foreign business chambers in Jakarta to help coordinate their input on the draft decree, and helped prepare and amend letters from the business chambers to the MOM. SSEK also met with the MOM, the Vice President's Office and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs to discuss and help shape the draft decree, and to raise the concerns of the business chambers and advocate on their behalf.

Some of the changes championed by SSEK, including the possibility of obtaining exemptions for positions not listed in the decree, were included in the final decree issued by the MOM.

SSEK will offer a deeper analysis of the new MOM decree in the coming days. In the meantime, please contact Stephen Igor Warokka (stephenwarokka@ssek.com) if you have any questions.
