SSEK Law Firm participated in the 2025 Employment Law Alliance (ELA) Asia Pacific Regional Meeting and Client Conference, held in Hong Kong.

Representing SSEK were partners Syahdan Z. Aziz, who serves on the ELA Board of Directors and is the Asia Pacific Regional Chair, and Mahareksha S. Dillon.

The client conference, co-hosted by ELA member firm Deacons, brought together top employment law experts from across the Asia Pacific to share insights on the evolving challenges in labor and employment law.

Syahdan joined Atul Gupta of Trilegal (India) in delivering the opening “Introduction to the ELA,” providing participants with an overview of the ELA’s global reach and the value it brings to clients navigating complex employment law issues across borders.

Syahdan also served as a panelist in the conference’s second session, “Head Scratching Employment Issues.” The panel explored timely legal developments and practical challenges, including new protections for gig workers, updates to workplace discrimination and harassment laws, enhanced employee data protection obligations, and evolving standards around dismissals and termination processes. Syahdan contributed insights from the Indonesian legal landscape and shared comparative perspectives.

The conference featured employment law specialists from more than a dozen Asia Pacific jurisdictions. Topics ranged from best practices for workplace investigations to regional legislative trends and cross-border compliance strategies.
