22 Mei 2025

SSEK Law Firm recently hosted a meeting of the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AmCham Indonesia), bringing together stakeholders to discuss recent developments under Indonesia’s amended Patent Law.

The session featured speakers from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) and SSEK and provided practical insights into the legal and regulatory landscape shaping IP protection in Indonesia.

The event opened with remarks from Retno Kusuma Dewi, Legal Analyst at the Sub-Directorate of Legal Affairs and Facilitation of the Patent Appeal Commission under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. She highlighted significant updates in the amended Patent Law.

Nico Mooduto, a partner at SSEK, discussed key provisions in the amended law, including second-use patents, exemptions for generic drug production prior to patent expiration, and the treatment of genetic resources and traditional knowledge.

The session also addressed enforcement challenges, online takedown mechanisms, and interagency coordination in the fight against counterfeit goods.

SSEK was pleased to support this timely and important discussion. We look forward to further collaboration on advancing Indonesia’s intellectual property landscape.
