A unique tradition among the Indonesian legal community entered its second decade as the 20th annual Law Firm Games (Pertandingan Persahabatan Antar Konsultan Hukum or "PPAKH") officially kicked off on Saturday, August 16.
With the theme "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work," the games opened over the Independence Day weekend with a 5K Fun Run on Saturday. Lawyers and staff members from 16 of the biggest law firms in Jakarta donned costumes and completed a course around Pasar Festival Kuningan, with the first 50 finishers picking up medals.
Members of the SSEK family tapped into flower power and the 1960s vibe and decked themselves out in tie-dye and peace symbols for the run.
An all-day bazaar added to the festive spirt, with stalls set up by the different law firms selling food and goods.
The fun and games continued on Sunday, Independence Day, at the Senayan sports complex. There were traditional games like kerupuk eating, sack races and bakiak races, and the basketball competition also got under way.
The Law Firm Games, being hosted by SSEK Legal Consultants, bring together lawyers from the largest law firms in Jakarta for three months of friendly competition and charity. Every weekend between August and October, participating law firms will compete in a variety of sports and arts competitions, from futsal and basketball to table tennis and an acoustic band competition.
Charity is a big part of the 20th Law Firm Games and participating law firms collected money and necessities for Indonesian veterans and former national athletes. On Saturday, August 9, SSEK and representatives of other participating law firms delivered cash and necessities to Wisma Seroja in Bekasi, which houses disabled Indonesian veterans and their families, and to representatives of former national athletes.
