SSEK has advised Indonesian telecommunications provider PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison) on a US$300 million joint venture with Indosat subsidiary PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta and Asian data center company Big Data Exchange (BDx) to establish a new “data center and cloud-focused operation” in Indonesia.
The companies said the JV was formed to “meet Indonesia’s growing need for a higher level of global data center facilities.”
The SSEK team advising on the project was led by partners Ira A. Eddymurthy, Rusmaini Lenggogeni and Mahareksha Dillon.
With an estimated value of $300 million, this reportedly would be one of the largest foreign investments in the data center sector in Indonesia.
This joint venture aligns with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s vision to develop a new world-class data center company in Indonesia, offering a complete suite of superior digital solutions and serving customers across multiple industries including financial institutions, hyper-scalers, telecom operators, and the government.
