SSEK Adviser to Feature at IBA Investing in Asia Conference

Michael S. Carl, an international legal adviser at SSEK Indonesian Legal Consultants, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming International Bar Association conference on Investing in Asia. The conference will be held December 7-8 in New York City. It is co-presented by the IBA's Asia Pacific Regional Forum and North American Regional Forum, and supported by the IBA Arbitration Committee, the IBA Corporate and M&A Law Committee, the IBA Corporate Counsel Forum, the IBA Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Committee, and the IBA International Trade and Customs Law Committee.

Michael will be a panelist during a session on the conference's opening day titled, "East Meets West Meets South: Legal and Cultural Challenges in Doing M&A in Asia." Among the topics to be discussed by the panel are regional differences in legal systems and the general corporate cultures related to M&A.

Michael is well positioned to offer insights into the legal and cultural challenges of M&A transactions in Southeast Asia, Indonesia in particular. Michel joined SSEK in 2004 and has nearly 20 years of experience practicing law in Southeast Asia. Before joining SSEK, he was associated with the international law firm Baker & McKenzie in its Singapore and Bangkok offices. Michael received his J.D. in 1994 from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law and is a member of the California State Bar.

Michael earned an Indonesian law degree in 2012 from Atma Jaya University in Jakarta, graduating at the top of his class. He is fluent in Indonesian.
