SSEK, led by partners Rusmaini Lenggogeni and Stephen Igor Warokka, is working with the European Union on a project to produce guidelines for business on halal certification for food products in Indonesia.
As part of that project, SSEK recently discussed the halal guidelines that SSEK produced, with GOPA consultants, at an EU Delegation meeting attended by around 40 participants.
SSEK then attended a follow-up meeting with trade counselors from EU member states to discuss the Indonesian Halal Law and the halal certification process. This meeting was attended by the EU Delegation to Indonesia and ambassadors, deputy heads of mission, political officers and economic and trade counselors from the Indonesian embassies of EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Poland and Spain.
The halal guidelines produced by SSEK explain the halal product assurance (inspection) and certification processes in Indonesia (as of March 2020), and how businesses can obtain certification under the prevailing laws and regulations.
SSEK Halal Practice
SSEK has a growing halal practice. Our lawyers work with a range of clients on the halal certification process in Indonesia.
In addition to the project with the EU, our recent projects include assisting a multinational pharmaceutical company with the halal certification process for the company's vaccines, advising a French multinational food products corporation on product registrations and halal certification in Indonesia, and advising an American manufacturer and distributor of natural nutrition supplements and beauty products on halal certification for its products.
