SSEK Helps InJourney Bring Formula One Powerboat Event to Indonesia

SSEK Legal Consultants has acted for PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), which does business under the name InJourney, in the negotiation and finalization of an agreement for Indonesia to host its first Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship event. The word-class competition will be held on North Sumatra’s famous Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in Indonesia, on February 24-26, 2023.

The signing of the agreement brining the race to Lake Toba was witnessed by several Indonesian government ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.

SSEK partner Dewi Savitri Reni led the team working on this project, with senior associate Aldilla S. Suwana and associate Fadhira Mediana.

This is the first time that Indonesia will play host to a Formula 1 Powerboat event. Indonesia is working to boost tourism in the country following the Covid-19 travel restrictions and sports events are seen as important in helping to achieve that goal.
